I was born, raised and saved in Dallas, TX. As a youngster at First Baptist Church in Dallas, I accepted God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus. He has been faithful in every aspect of my life for decades.
I started a love affair with computers in 1977, which led to a degree as a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 1982 and then 30 years of I.T. work with Texas Instruments, 7-11, CarMax and J.C. Penney.
But a strange thing happened along the way. God transformed my love for technology into a love for people. My focus both inside and outside work became more about the people. We joined Watermark in 2000 and started serving in various capacities with a focus on marriage. We became deeply involved in re|engage and started seeing God do amazing things to enrich and restore marriages. So, when the opportunity was presented to come on staff in 2013 to help roll out re|engage nationally, I said “sign me up!”
I met my sweet wife Linda at a church outing and we married in 1984. We are on our third set of wedding rings due to various calamities. She is definitely my better half, as most folks know me as “Linda’s husband”. We have two grown sons, Jake and Matt.
I can be bribed with Tex-Mex and Dr. Pepper, and once wrote a paper on why Blue Bell ice cream is a food group. I’m equally happy listening to Huey Lewis, Zac Brown or Kenny G, but my favorite group is the Watermark worship band. Any day at the beach is a perfect day, although a good hike in the mountains is a close second and watching the sunrise during a run around White Rock Lake is delicious!
