Meet Samuel

I was born and raised with my two sisters and brother as a pastor’s kid, right outside Washington DC, in Hyattsville, MD. My parents founded and pastored the church I grew up in after immigrating from El Salvador.

When I was 18, God began leading me to make my faith more my own by coming to Lindale, TX to do a Christian leadership internship. It was here that I met and fell in love with my incredible wife, Bethany!

After a few years, I moved back home to Maryland, got married in 2014, and began working in fulltime church ministry. Through this season I was introduced to Watermark through resources I was studying from William Lane Craig. I came to my first Church Leadership Conference in 2016, where I was deeply impacted by God and the culture of Watermark. I had the opportunity to sit in on re:generation and it was the first time I had really seen the power and freedom that comes from confession and vulnerability. It was beautiful and God used it to transform my understanding of the Gospel.

In 2016, I became a father to my beautiful daughter, and in 2018 my son was born and joined the fam. My fatherhood exposed an even deeper need for God, and it was through this vocation, that my wife and I felt like God was leading us to move back to Texas and be a part of Watermark. I am very happy to be here and to serve this church and community that has been so pivotal in my understanding and love for God and His people.
