As the daughter of a Navy Chaplain, I grew up in a Christian home but had a fairly unorthodox church experience as a child. After all, I was frequently attending church on a U.S. battleship with my dad preaching and 5 or 6 sailors attending who happened to be on duty that Sunday while the ship was in port. The family plan was for all of us to return to Texas at some point. I did my part after graduating from high school in Virginia Beach by heading to The University of Texas at Austin. I did my undergraduate and law school studies at UT where I also met and later married my law school sweetheart, Scott. We have been doing life in Dallas with our 6 kids since we left Austin in 1995.
My story of grace has been marked by long seasons of sanctification through relationships. After coming to Christ as a 10 year old, God has continued to refine me and grow me in my understanding of His grace and my weakness. When we came to Watermark as a family in 2007, the Lord immediately called us to adopt children. We added three children from Ethiopia to our family of five in 2009. What a blessing – but a challenging one. The Lord has been gracious to allow me to serve in many lay roles at Watermark for many years. Community has always had a special place in my heart – relationships again! – for a long time. And in 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic, I was blessed to join the Community team!
