Ethan Pope

Director of Moneywise

Meet Ethan

A conversation in college changed the trajectory of my life. All goals, desires and plans were radically altered when I chose to follow Christ.

I’m an Ole Miss accounting grad. After college, I joined the staff of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). On the first night of orientation the speaker said, “turn around and meet someone you don’t know.” I reached out my hand to a beautiful, energetic, young woman who soon became my best friend, and 4 years later, my wife. Next to trusting Christ, marrying Janet was the best decision I ever made.

After ten years with Cru, I became a student at Dallas Theological Seminary. After graduating from DTS, I started a ministry called Foundations For Living where I have been teaching biblical financial principles for 30+ years. In addition to directing Moneywise, I continue to serve with FFL.

I love to study my Bible, research, write and teach. I’m motivated to take a complex topic and make it simple. Because of those passions and gifts, I’ve had nine books published, have been a guest on 700 radio programs, and have spoken at conferences and churches across the nation. I don’t play golf, hunt or fish. My serious hobby is real estate (flipped my first home in 1992), and I love watching college football.

My greatest privilege is being known as Janet’s husband, Natalie and Austin’s dad, and G-daddy to five grandkids. Both of our children married awesome spouses. I’m a blessed man.

My favorite foods are BBQ with sweet tea, and pizza with Coke. My favorite movies are Rudy, The Patriot, Braveheart, Iron Will, Apollo 13, and Gladiator. Do you see a pattern here? In recent years, my new favorite movie is Cinderella (I have five granddaughters).

On my early morning walks I pray and meditate on God’s Word. It’s the best part of my day.

It is an honor to direct Moneywise at Watermark and have a front row seat to seeing lives change.
