Garrett Wikle

Resident Theologian

Meet Garrett

I’m an Oklahoman who is successfully pretending to be Texan. And it’s honestly not as bad as I thought it would be.

I was born and raised in Stillwater, OK, where I came to faith in high school and later met my wife, Addi, at Oklahoma State University. Although I came to know the Lord in a parachurch ministry, my heart has always yearned for the health of the local church.

I came to Watermark in 2018 for our ministry residency program and have served on staff ever since. First, I worked with our Resources team to create content for and build relationships with other churches across the country. After a few years I moved to the Equipping Team to teach and train our own church members and staff in the Bible, theology, and apologetics. And, today, I have the privilege of serving as Watermark’s Resident Theologian. That title is unfamiliar to most, but it means that I get to be a champion of biblical and sound doctrine across our church. Whether it’s in a classroom or a meeting over coffee, it is a privilege to magnify Christ as we seek to understand the deep things of God (1 Cor 2:6-16).

Good theology has God as its object and communion with God as its end. My prayer is that Watermark would know and love our God all the more as we seek him together.
