Meet Matt

As a young kid growing up in Denton TX, my early days were filled with many great adventures with my friends, hanging out with my dad while he worked on a car or a project around the house, and playing any sport involving a ball. While as a family we were pretty active in church, when I left home to attend college at Texas A&M I was pretty convinced that my salvation rested on the fact that I was a good person. The Lord used a friend to share the gospel with me in between intramural basketball games and open my eyes to the amazingly good news that Jesus lived the life I could never live, died the death I should have died, and rose from the grave to defeat death and offer new life to broken sinners like me. From that day forward my life has never been the same.

Shortly after my wife (Jenn) and I were married, I quit my job in commercial lending to attend Dallas Theological Seminary to prepare for pastoral ministry. When I finished DTS in 2000, Jenn and I set off on a couple decades of ministry serving churches big and small in Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. Along the way, I’ve never lost the wonder and joy of seeing Jesus bring new life and transformation to someone through his word, his people and the power of the Holy Spirit.

I’m grateful to have three beautiful daughters (Ellie, Chloe and Emma Kate) who call me dad. When I’m enjoying a great conversation with friends or my family, I’m in my happy place, especially if there’s a good cup of coffee in hand. I enjoy woodworking, Texas Aggie football, all things DIY, and watching Formula 1.
