Meet Todd

My wife, Julie, and I have been involved with Watermark from the beginning, ever since it was just us and eight other families dreaming about doing church in an authentic, innovative way. The same year the church officially started, we started our own family with the addition of Audrey, and 18 months later Eve joined us. Over the past 22 years, we have served at Watermark in a number of areas, including community, equipping, re|engage, Foundation Groups, and foster care. Last year, I retired from full-time work and we became empty nesters, with both girls attending Texas A&M.

While I grew up in the Methodist church and heard the gospel on several occasions, I did not have a personal relationship with Christ until age 30. That is when God dropped the scales from the eyes of a self-willed, prideful, and controlling young man and allowed me to see my need for a savior. Over the next five years I grew in my faith, thanks to older, wiser men who poured into me. In 1997 I married Julie, and we started our journey following Christ together.

Over the last 22 years, God has used my wife and children to humble me and deepen my dependence on Him. If asked to pick a life verse, I would actually choose two:

• “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’” (James 4:6)
• “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

These are both lessons God continues to teach me.

Julie and I are excited about whatever God has next for us as we look to devote more time to His service and this local body.
