Meet Scott

I grew up in the Bay Area in a household that explored many faiths but landed in a small Christian church that met in a movie theater. I was baptized at the age of 17 with both my parents, but going to church was mostly just part of a weekend checklist. We didn’t have conversations about what being a Christian should mean, and it didn’t change our Monday-Saturday lifestyles.

I escaped California and became an adopted son of the Lone Star state in 2012. Living on my own for the first time led to a sinful party lifestyle filled with sex, drugs, and pornography. My job relocated me to Dallas, where I ran into an old friend who recommended I check out The Porch. I had just started dating Melissa, who’s now my wife, and we went to check it out. My first exposure to Watermark was sitting in the front row, listening to a sermon about intentional dating through a biblical lens. I was convicted and curious. I believed in Jesus and the Bible but wasn’t educated on what it actually said. We kept coming and eventually decided to attend Merge, a class that prepares seriously dating and engaged couples for marriage. I learned that the Bible had a lot to say about how a successful marriage should function, so I started reading my Bible regularly. God began to change my heart, and I started to follow Jesus instead of the world.

Melissa and I married and joined a Foundation Group, where I was challenged weekly and daily by my community to follow Jesus and learn His Word. During this time, God opened doors for me to go back to school and get a degree in 3D animation for Game Technology. I worked as a producer in a few tech/gaming companies, and God used me to reach people in the workplace.

In 2020, I was blessed to be able to visit Israel before the pandemic hit, and on that trip, I felt like I was being called into ministry. I brought my feelings to my wife, friends, community, and my community shepherd. I asked for prayer on what that might look like. God was faithful to answer my prayers and open doors that led me to join the film team here at Watermark as Project Manager. As a cinephile and an objective process maker, I could not be happier to serve our Lord in this capacity.
