I grew up in Carrollton in a Christian home. I’m the youngest of four, and we were constantly involved at church. I knew I was a sinner in need of God’s grace when I was a child and regularly enjoyed coming to church to study the Scriptures. Things got a little complicated in my family when my siblings started to have fairly severe mental health issues, and I found my faith growing colder. I became wrapped up in activities like choir and football that took up most of my attention. I rediscovered a love for God’s Word at the end of high school and towards the beginning of my time at Baylor University (Sic Em Bears!), where I discerned God’s calling on my life into ministry.
In 2021, I came to Re:generation, our recovery ministry, as a participant to work through some spiritual wounds that were holding me back from living out my faith fully, and I found a greater fullness of joy from working through those issues. While I had known Jesus for a long time, Re:generation reminded me of the importance of my identity in Christ and encouraged me to put to death the lesser loves that had been ruling my life.
I had no idea that just a few years later, I would be joining the team to serve our church through this amazing ministry that seeks to help people find freedom from the same kind of wounds that I had. There is no greater joy for me than seeing God changing someone’s life, even if that takes longer than anticipated. If you haven’t been through Re:generation before, or find yourself needing to work through some things, come join us on Monday nights!
In my free time, you’ll find me watching way too much football, going to the gym, watching TV, or spending time with family.
