Meet Kandice

Home grown in the great metroplex of Dallas/Fort Worth, I was born at the next door hospital to Watermark, and have two God-fearing parents and two pretty awesome sisters. The Lord’s grace and sovereignty has been huge in my life specifically in the form of being a part of five generations of Christ followers. With that said, I was told of the grace of the cross at a young age and knew that I could only be right with God if I trusted in Jesus as my savior (Romans 6:23). Even though I knew that I was saved thru grace, my flesh still fought to earn God’s love and to strive for perfection in every way.

After experiencing disappointment in not becoming a teacher after attending college for Music Education, I dove in to the restaurant world as the Lord opened my eyes to the darkness and the hurting people in that world. That ended after I entered a season of darkness as I had been trying to find my identity in my job and in pleasing my superiors instead of clinging to the truth that Jesus was the only well that would never run dry. I then found myself at Watermark at the end of 2014 and because we serve a sovereign God, whose mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23) I was able to walk in the grace that He had for me all along. I jumped into community and even though I had no clue what was next, I knew that I served the same God that I trusted in as a little girl, the God who was constant, my Jesus who was the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Then unannounced to me, doors opened for me to work at Watermark and use the gifts the Lord had gifted me and that I had placed in the box of the restaurant. I have had a passion to love on kids and show them the grace Jesus has for them since I myself was young when I came to know about Jesus. I am so excited to be apart of encouraging the body, and shepherding a new generation! What an amazing adventure it can be when we can fully trust God’s sovereignty (Isaiah 46:9-10)

I am an avid self-proclaimed foodie, home chef, world traveler, lover of the arts (musicals, opera, and art museums are my top faves) and would need a second full-time job to fully fund my top hobbies. You can also find me singing to myself at all times, and willing to play almost any card game or board game even though Euchre (only for you yankees) and Dicecapades would be my first pick!
