I became a believer when I was just five years old! I remember going to my dad, who was our pastor, and asking him how old I needed to be to become a Christian, because I felt the Lord calling me even then. After he walked me through what it truly means to follow Christ, I accepted Him into my life that day!
I was born in Benton, Arkansas, though my family moved to Texas before my first birthday, and I spent most of my formative years in Mount Vernon, Texas. I'm the son of a Family Pastor, Shannon Hassell, and an Elementary Teacher, Cyndi Hassell, and the older brother to Caleb Hassell. I married my wife, Lily in 2026, just a week after I joined the Watermark staff! Outside of work, I'm usually watching a F1 race weekend or playing volleyball with my friends!
In high school, I led worship for my youth group, and it was near the end of my senior year that I sensed God calling me away from the stage and toward the technical side of ministry, using my gifts to support our pastors and worship leaders! That calling led me to earn an associate’s degree in fine arts from Northeast Texas Community College, and eventually to Watermark Community Church, where I now get to use my AV expertise to serve our ministry team.
Nothing drives me more than the hope and prayer I have that someone far from God will come to know Christ, and that I get to play a small part in that through the work the Lord does through me behind the scenes!
