Meet Shelby

Born and raised in the Dallas area, I grew up as the typical youngest child (if you know, you know). I’ve always had pets around the house, and now my husband Zach and I own a Catahoula/Boxer mix named Ziggy! If you run into me at Watermark, ask me to see pictures of my dog!

Growing up, our family attended church every Sunday and Wednesday. I became acquainted with hearing about God at a young age, but I didn’t quite know what a relationship with him meant. At a Vacation Bible School in 4th grade, I understood the gospel for the first time! I knew that God desired for me to spend eternity with him – that’s why he sent Jesus to rescue us from our sin!

As a teen and into my adulthood, I still struggled with anxiety, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. My home church, (where I met my high-school sweetheart) put a huge emphasis on the power of God’s Word, and His immense desire to commune with us here and now. God gave us the Holy Spirit to comfort us in our grief, convict us in our sin, and remind us of the hope of the gospel.

“26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:26-27
